The Evolution of Cornish Ramblings

Back in 2021, I wrote a blog post introducing myself and a little walking group I’d started called Cornish Ramblings. I called it “Hello, I Am Cornish Ramblings” - a simple title for something that’s become anything but. What started as a personal outlet, born from a need to reconnect with nature and myself, has grown into a whole community. A movement, even. And now feels like the right time to reintroduce ourselves.

Because we’re not just a walking group anymore. We’re a group of strangers who have become friends. A place where people show up just as they are, muddy boots, messy lives, and all, and know they’ll be welcomed with open arms and a hot flask.
A Community on the Move
Since that first blog, Cornish Ramblings has taken on a life of its own. We’ve wandered across miles of coast paths and country lanes, hiked many hills, hopped over an abundance of stiles of all shapes and sizes, crossed endless creeks, waded through a multitude of fields (usually filled with cows), and navigated over and through many a muddy puddle. We’ve talked, laughed, cried, and eaten our way around some of Cornwall’s most beautiful corners.

We’ve grown in number too - what used to be a handful of people meeting up for a walk has turned into regular groups of 15, 20, sometimes more. Dogs trot along beside us. New faces appear and quickly become familiar. Long-time ramblers return, season after season. Each walk brings a different mix of people, but the sense of welcome stays the same.
More Than a Ramble
Cornish Ramblings is still about walking, of course. But now it’s also about wellbeing. About connecting - really connecting - with the land and with each other.

From shared book swaps and seasonal sea swims, to themed walks and charity fundraising, this community has found ways to care deeply, move gently, and support one another beyond the footpath.
We’ve also grown online. Whether you found us through Instagram, our newsletter, or simply by spotting us striding through a field in matching waterproofs, thank you. Every like, share, message, and hello means the world.
Events That Bring Us Together
Over the years, Cornish Ramblings has also started stepping into something new: events.

In spring, we hosted our popular annual Cocker Spaniel Meet-Up - an absolute joy-filled morning of wagging tails, muddy paws, and the kind of energy only spaniels can bring. It was such a hit that we’re already planning more for 2026!

And then there was Slovakia. A magical trip with a group of our ramblers to the breath-taking Tatra Mountains, where we swapped Cornish coasts for alpine forests and glacial lakes. It was emotional, life-affirming, and a reminder that connection through walking doesn’t stop at Cornwall’s border. Travel with Cornish Ramblings is something we’re excited to explore more of.
What We Believe In
At the heart of Cornish Ramblings is this: everyone deserves fresh air, good company, and a reason to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

We welcome everyone. You don’t need to be a seasoned hiker or own the best gear. You just need to show up, breathe in the Cornish air, and take that first step. Some people come for the views. Some come for the headspace. Some come for the cake stops (fair enough). But most come back because they feel seen, heard, and held.
What’s Next?
As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue rambling around Cornwall, exploring new routes (thanks to iWalk Cornwall!), meeting new people, hosting more events, and finding joy in the little things; a wildflower spotted, a rainbow after rain, a quiet moment by the sea. There are a few changes ahead, but all positive and wonderful and something we can't wait to share with you all.

If you’ve been walking with us for a while, thank you. If you’re new here, hello and welcome. You can find upcoming walks on our website, follow along on Instagram, or sign up to our newsletter for all the latest updates. Walks are £5pp (or £8 if you’re coming with someone from the same household), dogs are always welcome, and I share all the ramble info in advance via email, with guidance on what to bring and what to expect.
Come and ramble with us sometime. We’ll save you a fig roll.

Always 5 stars, more if possible...
Jodys planning, attention to detail and attracting the very best people from all four corners of Kernow is simply legendary. I've already had a taste and so desperate for more... Really excited to join you all soon!
Always a 5 star rating from me. I have joined these walks as part of my annual holiday for the last 3 yrs. Love the variety the walks bring in people, landscapes, weather, location, and everything that is Kernow.
Has been such an important part of my life since 2023. And I’m very grateful.🙏
